Hi, welcome to my fieldnotes!
I was born and raised in the seaside town of Dalian, China, and moved to Davidson, North Carolina, for university at the age of 18. There, I fell in love with sundresses, Southern BBQ, and first learned the art of being a participant-observer, thanks to my professor and advisor, Fuji Lozada.
Since then, I’ve built a career at the intersection of diplomacy, business, and politics across Beijing, New York, and now London. My perspective blends Chinese and Western thinking, and I still carry that anthropological lens into everything I do: to join in someone else's world as a participant and observe, without rushing to judge it.
As Xi famously put it, the world is undergoing changes unseen in a century. For what it's worth, it feels incredible to live through such sweeping geopolitical shifts. We’re all grains of sand in the grand machinery of geopolitics, but I try to zoom in on how people live, talk, and trade, to make sense of them.
Besides contemplating China, I love walkable cities, park picnics, and burgers and beer in a pub. Meeting new people. Or all of the above.
